One good thing: this speech is a LOT shorter than the ones we hear. I would advise Obama to stick to 45 minutes at most--30 minutes if he can manage it.
In terms of content: I'd like to see us create a health policy--focus on getting people to make healthy choices, reduce obesity, diabetes, etc. I realize this is like saying the budget deficit can be fixed by cutting earmarks, but it's a place to start (and it should be a starting point for common ground).
I'm worried that energy innovation will disappear from the agenda now that oil is back to $40/barrel. Where is the call to put a "floor tax" at the $60/barrel level?
